But they also include and are not limited to braces/prosthetics, hearing aids, portable oxygen concentrators, and CPAP machines.
How do I know if I need an assistive device? Come schedule an initial evaluation with one of our DPTs for some insight if an assistive device is needed. Typically, individuals who require an AD have an abnormal gait or trouble balancing that could be caused from a chronic disorder or weak musculature.
Where can I purchase an assistive device? In general, you can find an assistive device at drugstores, medical supply stores, or online. Depending on your health insurance policy, an assistive device may be purchased through them. It is also important to be considerate of the quality of the equipment you are purchasing in order for it to benefit your needs.

Our highly trained therapists can educate and aid individuals who require an assistive device that assists with gait or individuals who have a brace or prosthetic. Firstly, we will make sure that the equipment you have is at your correct fitting and adjust any findings if needed. We can educate you on how to safely use the equipment in order to avoid a fall or injury. Your treatment sessions would also include muscle strengthening and balance training in order to maneuver the device efficiently.
